Cthulhu Dark Arts Tarot
Release date: 5 October 2021
Inspired by the Cthulhu Mythos and much bigger than the usual divinatory tarot decks, the fantasy fiction and independent publisher Bragelonne Games has worked with Førtifem, a French graphic designer duo who brings the imaginary world of monsters right on an OldMill Avorio paper (350 gr).
Its artistic process and profound illustrations are enough to trample over my run-of-the-mill imagination. Moreover, its meticulous (if not purist) approach to the 15th-century tarot could be a stunner in interpreting readings. Overall, its profound exploration of the deep dark world provides a unique perspective. As we connect with the intricacies of the human psyche, I consider this tarot deck as an excellent 2021 pick.
Intuitive Night Goddess Tarot
Release date: 28 September 2021
Channel your mystical wisdom with this ancient-meets-modern, drawing-meets-collage take on the tarot by Linzi Silverman. Lushness, fertility, luminous, and diversity–her artwork imbibes these energies for what seems to be an honor to the Divine Feminine.
I always take interest in decks whose authors courageously put their own take on the cards. In this case, Linzi Silverman interestingly renames the Pages to Nymphs, Knights to Warriors, and Kings to Spirit, just like how most of the Major Arcana cards, such as Potential for The Fool, and Awakening for Judgment. It feels fresh and positively dynamic to the advanced reader.
Silverman imagines the universality of nature’s powers and merges it with the symbolism of deities. That will in turn prompt (if not inspire) readers to draw out their own interpretation.
Disney Villains Tarot Deck and Guidebook
Release date: 31 August 2021
The #1 in new tarot decks 2021, this deck may give instant visual cues to the reader. While the tarot is not all about our shadow side, the allusion to Disney characters may be helpful to beginners. Author Minerva Siegel brings the energy of light-heartedness to divination and witchcraft with her body of works. Great find for Disney fans.
Moonology Manifestation Oracle
Release date: 19 October 2021
Allow me to deviate from tarot for a moment, and squeeze in this to-watch-out-for Oracle deck from the award-winning astrologer, Yasmin Boland.
If you are a psychic intuitive or just a plain old soul who believes how astrological events influence our actions, then this oracle deck is for you.
From the maker of the Moonology Oracle deck, Boland is back with a brand new deck to guide you in making the most out of the moon’s power to manifest. This deck promises actionable guidance to tune in to the moon as a cosmic timer.
Yasmin Boland makes astrology easy to understand and offers practical advice. So if you need some cues in your manifestation ritual, then this deck could be the one you’re looking for.
Oriens Animal Tarot
Release date: 01 November 2021
If you are an animal lover who deeply connects with colors, this deck perfectly fits your practice. Oozing with Tinkerbell-meets-an-empathetic-millennial vibe, Oriens Animal Tarot gives the duality of exploring the ethereal and discovery of the animal world.
Melbourne-based illustrator Ambi Sun mindfully created the deck with social responsibility in mind, so be part of her advocacy and add this animal-themed tarot to your arsenal.
Cirque du Tarot
Release date: 08 September 2021
Enjoy the Rider-Waite meaning and symbology in a whimsical way, through this soon-to-be-released Llewelyn gem. A homage to the magic and mystery of the circus, this deck is very reminiscent of The Tarot of the Little Prince, because of its character-driven illustrations by contemporary artist Joshua Michael Tufts. This, I believe, is Leeza Robertson’s best collaboration so far.
Final Thoughts
I have mindfully chosen these from a wide range of decks to be released towards the end of 2021. The majority of these decks give a new spin to the traditional Rider Waite tarot decks, with much creativity and originality.
May it be a source of guidance for all readers and enthusiasts, and may it aid in all of our journeys to discover the Divine in all of us. On the other hand, if you wish to start with your own reading, try it out below.
